North Cape

North Cape

North Cape is located in the north of Norway, in the municipality of Nordkapp on the island Magerøya. It is often referred to as the northernmost point of mainland Europe. In fact it is Cape Nordkyn. North Cape surrounded by the Arctic Ocean includes a 300-metre high cliff. This is a real world’s end. Time seems to slow down there, people say. Another understanding of the world appears in your mind.

The surface of North Cape is plain and stony with small lakes. For a long time, only researchers visited the cape. Today, tourist infrastructure is well developed here. On the viewing platform, you can see the Globe Monument, installed there as a symbol of the unity of all nations and people. Another famous attraction is the Children of the Earth Monument, which symbolises cooperation, friendship, hope and joy. On the cape, you can see the incredibly beautiful ocean and the northern lights.

How to get there: the nearest towns to the cape are Honningsvåg and Hammerfest. You can get there by bus or by car. From 1 November to 30 April, the road is closed for private vehicles, only buses run there during this period. The road is part of the E69 highway.
